1. With Fashion Week just around the corner, we are all beginning to focus on the upcoming trends for fall. But what about the trends hitting stores now? What are you coveting?
I am OBSESSED with this whole pastel craze. I was in BCBG Max Azaria the other day and was head over heels how they styled their mannequins. I love the pastel creamsicle color paired with pale yellows and pale pinks. On the contrary, I also love the bright resort colors: tangerine orange, cobalt blue, and greens. Bib necklaces and big cuff bracelets are also big contenders on my favorite trends right now, too.
2. How do you incorporate new trends into your wardrobe?
When I like a trend, I throw myself into it whole-heartedly. However, if I don’t like a trend, I won’t even bother, i.e. Uggs.
3. What trend are you seeing and not loving?
I’m not a big fan of the Pocahontas-esque pieces, i.e. mocassins, suede fringed dresses, feather earrings, etc. I like it if it’s done subtly, like a fringed bag, so that it looks boho, but not like you belong to the Navajo tribe.
4. Do you feel the pressure to constantly update your closet with the latest trends?
I wouldn’t say that I feel pressure to constantly update my closet with latest trends; if I like a trend enough, I’ll add it to my closet just because I can’t imagine it not being in my closet. Trends come and go. That’s why I like to buy things that I can still incorporate seasons later. I will admit, though, that since starting a blog, I do feel a little bit of pressure to make sure that I am showcasing my best stuff. When I buy a semi-expensive item, I kind of write it off in my head like it’s a business expense; “Oh, it’s okay. It’s for Glamrawk.”
5. Where do you find inspiration that takes the trend and makes it accessible to you and your personal taste?
I like to take trends and put my own personal spin on it. Where I seek out these trends is on other fashion blogs, in stores, and on celebrities. One of my favorite things to do is see what celebrities are wearing and look at what is on the runway, and then I find a cheaper alternative from stores like Zara and Forever 21. I consider it my own fun little game of Splurge VS. Steal! Though it may not have the same luxurious-named tag on it, it’s generally the same style at a much more wallet-friendly price.
